More than just an introductory course, French Wine Essentials is a comprehensive wine course that includes a 100+ page study guide, access to expert educators, and over 25 wines tasted through an inspiring adventure across France. Each wine is presented within a regional and cultural context while landmarks and traditional cuisine are highlighted to complete the curriculum.

This course is appropriate for both wine professionals and inquisitive enthusiasts. Accessible to all levels, this class offers a strong foundation for understanding French wine regions, grapes, and wine styles.

What you'll learn:

  • Environmental factors and viticultural practices 

  • Vinification and winemaking practices 

  • Basic tenets of French wine law and labeling terms

  • Key grape varieties, styles and quality levels of wines produced within the designated appellations

This certification has a minimum requirement of 25 hours of study time, including in-person and self-study. Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 50 multiple-choice questions.
